The complete encyclopedia on the 2009 MV Maersk Alabama hijacking in which four Somali pirates seized control of the container ship and evetually took the maritime captain, Richard Phillips, captive in it's lifeboat. After a five day stand-off between the U.S. Navy destroyers USS Bainbridge, USS Halyburton and the USS Boxer, three of the four pirates were killed by Navy SEAL snipers and their leader, Abdiwali Abdiqadir Muse, was taken into custody to be charged in the United States for piracy. On February 16, 2011, Muse was sentenced to 33 years and 9 months in federal prison. In 2013, Columbia Pictures released a film titled 'Captain Phillips' starring Tom Hanks and Barkhad Abdi as Captain Richard Phillips and pirate leader Abduwali Muse.
